Pictured above is "The Original Waterman's Steamship Company's" Globe having been relocated to the Mitchell Center on The Campus of the University of South Alabama!
It's Original Location was in Down Town Mobile as noted in provided above.
It's significance to me is that when I was a child my father and I would pass this globe on the way home from his business's on Battleship Parkway after leaving the main post office in downtown Mobile!
In those days was located in their "corporate" office building in the rotunda visible from Saint Louis Street if my memory serves me correctly. Coca-Cola bottling plant was also located on the same street and it was amazing to a little boy of my age to view both the "Bottling Operation" and the Globe as it slowly "spun" on it's Axis as it does so now in The Mitchell Center.
