The University of Alabama-Birmingham Blazers
Friends,
My first Jaguar Basketball Game that I was able to attend was with my father; Floyd E. Wooley in The Mobile Civic Center in 1979 or 1980 with The University of South Alabama Jaguars hosting The University of Alabama Birmingham Blazers!
It was standing room only that night with close to 13,000 people in attendance!
I beleive Terry "Cadillac" Catelidge and Rory White were on that Team!
There were so many people at that game to see Coach Cliff Ellis and his Jaguar Team take on Coach Gene Bartow's Blazer's that the fire-marshall had to announce on the P.A. system that if you couldn't find a seat you had to leave the game!
I have been a University of Jaguar Fan every since that exciting night although if my memory serves me right we lost to coach Bartow's Team but went on to have a wonderful season in the original Sunbelt Conference League of Teams or format!
Tomorrow night the Jaguars visit a 7-8 UAB team trying to start a run of victories I know Coach Arrow's Team is capable of making- 10 wins in a row coach Arrow!
Coach Arrow I feel you have the Coaching Staff, Talented Player, Leadership and commitment to be 14-4 in January improving on the record that stands at 4-4 at present!
The Game tomorrow night is at 7pm! Let's go get those blazer's and move forward to the NCAA Tournament this year not to mention an SBC Championship!
The Florida State victory was no fluke neither was your success in Canada!
Go Jaguars!
Floyd Clifton Wooley
